CCI Toronto and Area Chapter Appoints Sally Thompson as New Chapter President

Sally.200x200We are proud to announce that Sally Thompson, M.Sc., P.Eng., a Managing Principal at Synergy Partners has been appointed as President of the Canadian Condominium Institute – Toronto and Area Chapter.

Sally has served on the CCI Toronto Chapter Board of Directors since 2008 in several capacities including service on the Legislative, Conference and Education Committees, and as Vice President. Sally is also a frequent presenter at the Condo Conference and other forums, and an instructor for CCI Toronto’s level 300 Reserve Fund course. Sally also volunteers with Tarion and ACMO and has been a significant contributor to the reform of the Condominium Act including sitting on the province-wide eleven-person Expert Panel.

Sally started practicing full time in 1990 and has dedicated a significant portion of her career to helping clients assure their long term financial success through wise planning and wise spending. Synergy Partners is pleased to have Sally contribute her energies to CCI Toronto and to the Condominium Industry as a whole.

Synergy Partners Presenting to GYRA

cci-gyraOn September 28, 2016, Sally Thompson of Synergy Partners, Armand Conant of Shibley Righton and Laura Lee of Del Property Management will be presenting a session discussing changes to the Condominium Act. This session will focus on the provisions that impact existing buildings (rather than new buildings). The event is being co-hosted by CCI Toronto and GYRA (the Greater Yorkville Residents Association). Member condominium corporations are encouraged to sign up.

Erica has five years’ experience in building science and restoration consulting. Her focus includes building enclosure evaluation, design and renewal. Erica has experience working with a variety of clients including commercial, institutional, condominium, and residential.

Synergy Supports Youth Empowering Parents in Bubble Soccer Tournament

IMG_1606On Thursday June 23, 2016, Synergy Partners participated in a friendly tournament of Bubble Soccer. This tournament was part of a charitable event in support of Youth Empowering Parents. It was an afternoon of fun, with plenty of “bubble tackles” to go around. Our team was comprised of 7 players, Adam Thompson, Jeff Ricard, Melissa Morlidge, Ishan Prabhu, Riyaz Noordin, Tiana Visconti and even Peter Halsall joined the fray. The event was a hit with everyone really enjoying themselves and all in the name of a great cause

We are excited to announce that Robin Klem, P.Eng. has joined our growing team at Synergy Partners!

Robin is a Project Manager with nine years’ experience in building design, evaluation and renewal. Robin has a reputation for providing turn-key engineering solutions with a client-focused approach. In addition to his technical experience, Robin successfully managed one of the largest building sciences teams in the market where he was trusted and respected by employees and clients to achieve results.

Robin is an active participant in various industry associations where he remains informed of new technologies, developments and processes in the restoration community.

Synergy Partners Announces Newest Team Members

Synergy Partners continues to grow to meet the trust placed in us by a growing group of clients. We are pleased to introduce the latest team members to have joined us:

Adam Balicki, BASc, MBSc, has joined Synergy after working on building enclosure performance during construction and for remedial work, as well as reserve fund studies for condominiums. He has a Masters Degree in Building Science and a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a minor in sustainable energy.

Justin Ward, BASc, P.Eng., brings 5 years of experience on building science projects and general contracting in Ontario and BC to his role at Synergy. His projects have included evaluations and repairs for roofing, cladding, parking garages and balconies. This has involved problems with water, air and energy leakage and structural deterioration.

Matt Davis, BSc, MASc, joined Synergy with Engineering Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Queens University in structural design and repair. His experience includes structural performance monitoring, bridge design and inspection and green retrofits.

Melissa Morlidge, BArchSci, MBSc, has joined Synergy to apply her experience in building enclosure evaluation, repair, renewal and design. She focuses on cladding performance and using thermal modelling to inform design. Melissa is active in the academic realm, with an ongoing role of research and instruction at Ryerson University and has done presentations at various industry events.

Stewart Handrahan, MEng, has building inspection, standards enforcement, building science and materials evaluation experience in New Brunswick and Ontario. His work for the City of St. John brings a new perspective to the Synergy team. Stewart has Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in civil engineering.

Synergy Presenting at ACMO’s Town Hall Meeting – July 14

Synergy’s Sally Thompson will be presenting at the ACMO Town Hall Meeting on July 14, 2015 along with Murray Johnson, Chris Jaglowitz, Dean McCabe, Armand Conant and Catherine Murdock. An audience of property managers will gather to hear about and discuss the key amendments to the Condo Act that are proposed in Bill 106, Protecting Condominium Owners. Managers will be particularly impacted by Bill 106 not only because of manager licensing but also because the amendments will impact many of their day-to-day and annual management practices.
